(No) Thank You, Next: An Unlamented Farewell + Post-Election Reflections

*DISCLAIMER*: 1) I try not discuss politically charged topics on the blog because I know they can be incredibly polarizing and I want to keep this space as light-hearted as possible, but this was something I wanted to respond to 2) I don't claim to be a particularly good writer, but this may be…

How To: Effectively Avoid Falling Into A Reading Slump

As the title suggests, I'll be listing a few effective strategies I tried to avoid falling into a reading slump. First, some necessary preamble: this isn't a guide to breaking out of a reading slump because, quite frankly, I still don't know how to do that for myself just yet. In fact, as I type up this post I am in the midst of the worst reading slump I've experienced to date, the inspiration for this post. This is a poorly compiled list of ways to potentially avoid falling into one. Also, I feel I must spell out the following: it's very possible that only very few or none of the items/strategies are applicable to your case or you'll find that they're not to your liking. And that's totally fine! Again, some things might work for some people and others not. These are just a few things I found help me keep to my reading habit. You might even find that a few of these overlap with your own.

Physical Books vs. Ebooks: The Eternal Debate

I've thought about this before, numerous times. But I decided to revisit the topic when I was reading my eBook copy of Under the Never Sky by Veronica Rossi. Choosing between the two was hardly ever difficult for me. Physical copies of books always won me over, it was a no-brainer. But lately …

Fabergé Eggs: A Brief History

I've admired Fabergé eggs for a long while now, but since I've read A Thousand Pieces of You by Claudia Gray, I've been obsessed. They were only briefly mentioned in the story, in the dimension set Russia (one of many sets in other places), where Marguerite Caine- the main character- i…

The Illustrated Editions of the Harry Potter Series

I think it's safe to say that I've published more Harry Potter related posts in the last few days than I have of any other series. Speaks volumes of my obsession.

Recently, I found out that the second book of the Harry Potter series, the Chamber of Secrets (who doesn't know that), is …

10 Random Facts About Me

The fact that I easily came up with ten weird random things about myself speaks to my character, I think.

Random Post: The Sorting Ceremonies

Okay, so this is a topic I felt need to be addressed. And since no one's going to address this issue, then I will. It's a very sensitive subject. One that affected people worldwide, myself included. This very sensitive, and controversial topic is that of the Sorting Ceremonies. I think I s…

Never Trust A Duck: Is There Truth To Will Herondale's Words?

Never trust a duck. Is there truth to Will Herondale's words? I don't know, let's examine the evidence for our hypothesis. I've had my own bad experiences with ducks: When I was in California about a year and a half ago, I went to the San Diego Zoo. While I was there, I thought it …

New Year's Resolutions 2016

This is the first time I officially make a list of New Year's Resolutions, that's probably because I don't usually stick to them (especially if the're a little far-fetched, which is most of the time), but this year (or rather, next year) I'll stick to them (hopefully). Anyway, …
