Open Letters: Lissa Dragomir (The Vampire Academy Series)

This letter was written in an interview-style because she is - of course- a queen, not just anyone can send her letters. Also, this is her Highness's copy
Dear Your Highness Vasilisa,

Red Rising (Red Rising #1) by Pierce Brown

5 out of 5 stars
Red Rising is the first of a science-fiction series and debut book of new author Pierce Brown. This is easily one of the best books I have ever read, and that's saying something. Red Rising follows a boy named Darrow who is a Red. Some five hundred years ago, Reds were brought t…

Goodbye, 2015: Best Books of 2015

What year 2015 has been, and as this great year comes to an end, we become hopeful that the next will be even greater. But before we truly serenade this 2015 goodbye, I'm going to make a list of the best books I've read this year in no particular order, when they come to mind:

The Force (Re)Awakens: A Star Wars Post

In celebration of the new Star Wars movie-for which I'm absolutely stoked for- I decided to write a post on the evolution of the Star Wars film saga.

The first ever Star Wars movie came out in 1977, it was entitled Star Wars: Episode IV: A New Hope. The plot of this film focused on the Rebel Alliance, led by Princess Leia played by Carrie Fisher and their effort to destroy the Death Star (the Galactic Empire's Space Station). This conflict interrupts Luke Skywalker's (played by Mark Hamill) quite farmland life, and he accidentally gets involved by taking robots that have plans for the potential destruction of the Death Star.

The sequel to Star Wars: A New Hope, The Empire Strikes Back was released in 1980. This followup is set three years into the future of A New Hope when the Galactic Empire's has fallen under the rule of Darth Vader and the Emperor Palpatine. Luke Skywalker's is taken under the wing of Jedi Master Yoda to study and master the Force. In the meantime, Darth Vader is on a mission to eliminate the Rebel Alliance whose purpose is to bring him and the Emperor Palpatine down. Ultimately, Luke has to decide whether to finish studying the Force and become a Jedi Knight or cast it aside and come to his friends' aid.

Star Wars: The Return of the Jedi (1983) takes place a year after The Empire Strikes Back, the dilemma in this one is now strictly the Emperor Palpatine whose plan is to build a second Death Star to get rid of the Rebel Alliance one and for all. Meanwhile, Luke (who always seems to be doing his own thing) is trying to bring back Darth Vader, who turns out to be Luke's father Anakin, a formerly fallen Jedi, from the Dark Side of the Force.

Comparing Covers (U.S, U.K editions, etc): The Trials of Apollo (The Hidden Oracle #1) by Rick Riordan

The U.S and U.K covers for the first book of the Hidden Oracle series by Rick Riordan, The Trials of Apollo have been revealed! To me, all of Rick Riordan's books have- more or less- the same overall themes when it comes to the covers. Don't get me wrong, I think it's a good thing. I l…

Open Letters: Dimitri Belikov (The Vampire Academy Series)

Dear Dimitri,

First question: Why are you so perfect? You're a modest guy, so you'll most likely deny the perfection statement, but that's just one of the many reasons I (and about a million other girls) find you perfect. Let's continue with the list, shall we? 2) Your Russian acce…

New Year's Resolutions 2016

This is the first time I officially make a list of New Year's Resolutions, that's probably because I don't usually stick to them (especially if the're a little far-fetched, which is most of the time), but this year (or rather, next year) I'll stick to them (hopefully). Anyway, …

The Secrets of Blood and Bone by Rebecca Alexander

3.5 out of 5 stars
*I received this book from Blogging for Books, but this doesn't influence my review at the all.

Okay, so this was an interesting book, with a slightly new take on vampires and supernatural creatures. One thing I would have to say was a con for me was the writing. Partly becaus…

Comparing Covers (US, UK Editions, etc): Under the Never Sky by Veronica Rossi

Another new segment, guys! I'm just swimming with great ideas, aren't I? This new segment, as you've obviously seen in the title of the post already is "Comparing Covers" (very original, I know) Here I'll be comparing covers of different editions of a certain book.

Recommendations: If You Like This... Then Read This...

Hello! This week's recommendations segment is going to be a little different from the norm. Instead of recommending a book or a series based on another book or series, I'm going to recommend a series based on a genre. If you like the genre of Romance, then read The Bridal Quartet by Nora R…

Books You Need To Add To Your Holiday Wishlist

The books I listed below are books that were published this year, even ones that have published as recently as this month. I provided a brief description of the books as well And yes, I do realize that they're all a combination of young adult and adult fiction books. Anyway, here they are:

Picture1. Soundless by Richelle Mead:For as long as Fei can remember, there has been no sound in her village, where rocky terrain and frequent avalanches prevent residents from self-sustaining. Fei and her people are at the mercy of a zipline that carries food up the treacherous cliffs from Beiguo, a mysterious faraway kingdom.

When villagers begin to lose their sight, deliveries from the zipline shrink and many go hungry. Fei’s home, the people she loves, and her entire existence is plunged into crisis, under threat of darkness and starvation.

But soon Fei is awoken in the night by a searing noise, and sound becomes her weapon.

Richelle Mead takes readers on a triumphant journey from the peak of Fei’s jagged mountain village to the valley of Beiugo, where a startling truth and an unlikely romance will change her life forever...

Picture2. Carry On by Rainbow Rowell:

Simon Snow is the worst chosen one who’s ever been chosen.

That’s what his roommate, Baz, says. And Baz might be evil and a vampire and a complete git, but he’s probably right.

Half the time, Simon can’t even make his wand work, and the other half, he sets something on fire. His mentor’s avoiding him, his girlfriend broke up with him, and there’s a magic-eating monster running around wearing Simon’s face. Baz would be having a field day with all this, if he were here—it’s their last year at the Watford School of Magicks, and Simon’s infuriating nemesis didn’t even bother to show up.

Carry On is a ghost story, a love story, a mystery and a melodrama. It has just as much kissing and talking as you’d expect from a Rainbow Rowell story—but far, far more monsters.

Picture3. Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo:

Ketterdam: a bustling hub of international trade where anything can be had for the right price—and no one knows that better than criminal prodigy Kaz Brekker. Kaz is offered a chance at a deadly heist that could make him rich beyond his wildest dreams. But he can't pull it off alone... A convict with a thirst for revenge. A sharpshooter who can't walk away from a wager. A runaway with a privileged past. A spy known as the Wraith. A Heartrender using her magic to survive the slums. A thief with a gift for unlikely escapes.

Six dangerous outcasts. One impossible heist. Kaz's crew is the only thing that might stand between the world and destruction—if they don't kill each other first.

Dear Nora,

I have nothing against you but: Keep your claws off my Patch! Sorry, I slipped up there...what was I saying? Oh, right, I haven't started yet. If I say something possessive about Patch, ignore me, I'm just very territorial. Not that he was mine, to begin with. *display of comple…
