In the spirit of Halloween, this weekend I felt obligated to publish a post on about scary book recommendations. I published a similar one during this time last year and decided to do another this year! So without further ado, here are five chilling books you have to read as soon as possible:
Coraline by Neil Gaiman is a story about a young girl named Coraline (surprise, surprise) that discovers a hidden door that leads to an alternate world created by her "other mother".
Rooms tells a story of a dysfunctional family that moves into their deceased father's house inhabited by ghosts!
This book isn't so much a scary book as it is a chilling mystery thriller. It surrounds a series of identities a woman takes after she finds her husband's body at the foot of her stairs.
If you haven't heard of this book before today, I don't know what to say except maybe ask you this question: Have you been living under a rock? Not only has this been on the NYT Bestsellers List for a long time now, but its movie has been in theaters for about three weeks now. The story is about a boy who follows clues with the help of his grandfather that leads him to an abandoned orphanage.
Edgar Allan Poe is one of my favorite poets and short story-teller, all of his works are chillingly good. This particular piece is about the imminent slow death of the narrator's friend who he claims to have greatly insulted him.
There you have it! Five books that should get you into Halloween spirit!
