I was (indirectly) tagged by Alex at twirlingpages.com (go check her out, she's awesome!) to do the Unpopular Opinions book tag (here's the original video)! So, I'm going to do it, here goes:
A Popular Book/Series You Didn't Like
Okay, so don't kill me but when I saw this, I immediately thought of The Fault in Our Stars by John Green. I feel guilty about this one because I absolutely looove John Green, he's one of my favorite people ever. But honestly, I had such high expectations for this book prior to reading it because of all rage and hype it was getting, but after I read it I just didn't see what all the fuss was about.
A series I couldn't even finish (In fact, I didn't even finish the first book) was the Uglies series by Scott Westerfeld. My friend had told me to read it because she thought it was incredible, and I didn't doubt her taste for one second because she was the one that got me into the Mortal Instruments series by Cassandra Clare. Anyway, so I picked it up at the library, started to read it but I just couldn't finish it. I don't know exactly what it was that was holding me back, but I know I didn't like it very much.
A Popular Series Everyone Hates But You Love
The Fallen series by Lauren Kate, I love it! I don't know if most people that've read it hate it, but I know that there definitely some Fallen haters out there *cough* Sasha, Mona *cough* (Sasha Alsberg is a book vlogger and I adore her. Link to her channel here)
A Love Triangle Where The Main Character Ends Up The Person You Didn't Want Them To End Up With
Well, for a lack of a more accurate love triangle, I choose Tessa, Jem, and Will. And I say this love triangle is inaccurate or rather sort of irrelevant because *SPOILER ALERT* Tessa ends up with both of them. But I remember when *SPOILER ALERT* Jem thought he was going to die he asked Tessa to marry him and I thought that she would and that they would end up together, when I really wanted Tessa to end up with Will. Yeah. So, considering my unwavering belief that Jem and Tessa were going to end up together, I think this counts.
A Popular Book Genre You Rarely Reach Out For
Well, I rarely choose to read Romance, but I think that's starting to change. My first romance novel was Bed of Roses by Nora Roberts and I loved it! (It was my recommendation of the week for last weekend, check it out here). Anyway, I'm definitely going to pick up more romance novels.
Popular Beloved Character You Didn't Like
Theresa from The Maze Runner series by James Dashner. I hated Theresa, even in the first book I was suspicious of her. I know some people that like her. I hated her from the start. But when I saw the movie, my hate softened a little because she's played by Kaya Scodelario and I love her.
A Popular Author You Couldn't Seem To Get Into
Alyson Noel, the author of the Evermore series. Oh my God, I cannot stress enough how bad that series was. She does this thing where she has a sort of catch phrase for each book, its inadvertent, I think, but its super irritating. I remember wanting to read her other series, the Soul Seekers, but that isn't happening anymore.
Popular Trope Your Tired Of Seeing
This has to be the whole "adults just don't understand kids" phenomenon. This happens a lot in books across genres. And sometimes, when it happens, what the adults have to understand is really important. But then again, even when its not important, I still get annoyed when the adults dismiss the kids. Maybe this has to do with the fact that I'm a teenager myself and I'm being biased, still, its a rational notion.
Popular Series You Have No Interest In Reading
A popular book series I have no interest in reading is the Castor Chronicles by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl. My sister started reading the first book but never finished it because she said it dragged on so I became discouraged to read the book, let alone the entire series. I may pick it up sometime in the future, but I have no interest in reading it right now.
